About Me

"It is gifts of the heart, innate, woven through the fabric of my being that will make the difference."

Terri Elise Goldstein

I am a nationally certified, Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC), with additional certification as a clinical trauma professional (CCTP) and a certified grief professional (CGP). I believe that every person has the potential to achieve. However, sometimes, we do not know what we want or need. We hear mixed messages from within ourselves, and from others, like our parents, teachers, friends, media, and religion. As a therapist, I help my clients untangle the messages and decide which messages bring feelings of darkness, and which lead to peace and joy. Together we find stolen hopes and dreams and discover the path to achieving them.

As participants in the human experience, we do our best every day. We face problems and pain that shape our views each day and cloud any hope for the future. We have fears and anxiety that stop us in our tracks. I am here to listen and to understand my clients as they find their way through the human experience, day-by-day, coping with disappointment, and celebrating success. As a child, I learned that focusing on caring for others was my way to overcome fear and pain. I did not know what to call this gift that felt like it was with me since I was born. However, I knew deep inside that I was able to help people; I could listen to their suffering and help them return to hope.

I believe I was called to be a therapist and that I was prepared throughout my entire life. My desire to be a fellow traveler on a client's therapeutic journey is seeded in my first-hand knowledge of the healing benefits of a trusting, counseling relationship.

I am experienced working with individuals from adolescence through older adults, as well as families. Thank you for considering me as one to be there for you. I will listen, share perspective, and even provide direction.

I have been a world-changer for my entire life, engaged in efforts to better my corner of the world. I feel the same desire today and believe that leadership and advocacy in my profession will benefit my clients, myself, and our global community. I invite you to learn about Utah Mental Health Counselors Association (UMHCA) and meet others who work diligently to enhance the counseling profession and to foster an alliance with all other noble professionals within the helping fields.

You will always have my best, built on a foundation of my own mental wellness, continuing education, and commitment to evidence-based practice— while remaining open to pioneering approaches.

This is my declaration of brilliance as a counselor and a promise to my clients.
